Happy New Year! I had a really fun time with Grandpa and Uncle Paul this Christmas. Grandpa was here for about two weeks (he just left this morning) and Uncle Paul was here for 4 days over Christmas.

Both Mummy & Daddy were off on holidays for the entire time, and my school was closed so we were all home. Every morning, I got to wake up Grandpa (Mummy & Daddy were most pleased about that) and I got to watch TV in his room. Mummy got to sleep in whenever she wanted! Daddy got the Wii set up again and we all played lots of Wii Ski (which I like to call "ski-wii") and Guitar Hero. Uncle Paul was the best at Guitar Hero but I am pretty good at ski-wii.

Of course the highlight was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We ate lots of good food - Uncle Paul made his schnitzel on Christmas Eve and Mummy made roast lamb for Christmas Day dinner. On Christmas Eve we all got to open family presents - ones that we gave each other. You can watch some YouTube videos of us opening them.

The two best presents I got were a pink Razor scooter from Uncle Paul and Aunty Karin, and my very own laptop (a ThinkPad T43) with a very cool pink cover on it with a big "Z" in the middle from Grandpa Shiv. I've had so much fun with both of them! Then after I went to bed, Santa Claus arrived sometime during the night and left me even more presents! (he drank the wine, ate the cookies and the reindeer ate the carrots).

Uncle Paul arrived last night but his plane was delayed 5 hours so he didn't get in till after 2am. I was good and I didn't wake him up - instead I played with Grandpa.

Here's a video of me reading my alphabet book from back in September. Here, I'm good at "reading", aka reciting the words that I had memorised from my class at school.

Grandpa Shiv arrived yesterday from London! He'll be here until after New Year's Eve. I'm so excited. We picked him up from the airport in the evening and had dinner at home. Grandpa was pretty tired so he went to bed the same as me! This morning, I woke him up about 7am and watched a bit of TV with him in his room. Then we went to the TV room and Daddy set up Mummy's Wii so I could teach Grandpa how to play Wii bowling. He was pretty good, but I still beat him!

We left the house just before noon, and went to the local wine shop at North Hills Mall to stock up on wine and champagne for our celebrations. We then grabbed a quick lunch at Five Guys (a burger place). Our next stop was a cookie party at Olivia's place (Olivia's in my Kindergarten class), but Grandpa wanted to go home and have a nap, so we dropped him off on the way.

Olivia's party was really fun. There were lots of my friends, both from my current school plus my preschool class. I had great fun playing with everyone. We got to have some hot chocolate, then we helped cut out shapes in cookie dough to put in the oven to cook. While they were cooking, we each got to decorate a canvas bag with shapes and pompoms. Then we played throughout Olivia's house having lots of fun. Then once the cookies were ready, we got to put icing and sprinkles and stuff on them. It was a great deal of fun.

Then we came home around 4pm and had some quite time before the Kouris came over - Gerrie, Dick, Amanda, plus Amanda's (and my) friend Abby. We had drinks at our place and exchanged some Christmas presents, then we all went to Winston's for dinner. It was a really fun day and I was very tired at the end of it.

Tomorrow Uncle Paul arrives and we all get to go see Cinderella!

I'm back! This week was my last week at Kindergarten before Christmas and 2009. I've really enjoyed my first 6 months at North Raleigh Country Day with Ms Maples. On Thursday, we had our holiday concert. For the last several weeks my class has been practicing our songs during our music class. Our class was tasked to do Hannakah songs; Ms Johnston's class was to do Kwanza songs and the 1st and 2nd grade was to do Christmas songs. For our concert, Mummy & Daddy were there to hear us sing, as we Gerrie, Amanda, and Abby.

My class sang two songs. You can see the video here on YouTube.

Citizenship!

Guess where I went to yesterday?! Gerrie & I went with Mummy & Daddy to their citizenship swearing-in ceremony. Yep, my staff are now citizens of the United States of America! They picked me up from school just after lunch time. We then drove to the new US Customs and Immigration Service office and sat in their auditorium. Gerrie and I and all the other guest had to sit or stand at the back so that all the new citizens could sit up front.

The Director of the local office spoke for a few minutes about voting and the reasons some people sought citizenship. Then they played a video about citizenship. The they all stood up and said the oath of alegience. Then a video from the current president (George Bush, but soon to be Barack Obama), then that was it. They then lined up and got their certificates. I then ran over and gave them hugs. There was time at the end to take some nice photos too.

Then just as we were leaving, it actually started snowing! Such fun! It was only flurries and only lasted about 5 minutes, but it was very nice. The four of us then had coffee and chitchat at Caribou. A very pleasant afternoon indeed, especially for a school day!
